The origin of Dutch Pantry Family Restaurants
was actually fresh food and salads started by
Lottie Kemberling on the family farm back in 1917. In 1945 she partnered with her son Jess who ran a small salad dressing business and they opened their first restaurant in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. On opening night at the first Dutch Pantry Restaurant a total of twenty five dinners were served, mostly to friends of Lottie and Jess. These folks knew the goodness of the Kemberling family recipes from personal experience. Lottie’s food standards were high, and we still carry on the family tradition in our restaurant through people who care about good food and customer service.
